Unveiling Chetna Vikas

Our Journey of Empowerment

Chetna Vikas is an organization founded in the year 1985 for the consciousness, empowerment and overall development of the disadvantaged section of the society. It is based upon Gandhian ideology, hence, peace, justice and equity are its core values.

A young team of social activists who were actively engaged in the Sampoorna Kranti Movement of Loknayak Jaiprakash gave birth to this organization. The concept of SWARAJ and ANTYODAYA are the leading values for the organizational strategic plan.

Director Speaks

Dear Readers,

A warm Greetings!
In 1997, I embarked on studying the journey of Chetna Vikas, followed by an in-depth exploration of our field areas.
Recognizing the need: I felt the necessity to work with the tribal communities of the Santal Pargana region.
The objective behind the integrated development approach of Chetna Vikas was to reduce migration among these communities, enable them to benefit from the produce of their own land, ensure children's health and education within a community environment, and focus attention on women's empowerment.

Chetna Vikas refined its strategy through collaborative efforts with the community. I also contributed to shaping this strategy, gaining valuable experience in addressing critical issues such as sanitation, livelihoods, and child protection. The issue of child protection, in particular, emerged as a result of the combined efforts of stakeholders at not only the child and community levels but also the district and state levels.
The vision and mission of Chetna Vikas are profoundly influenced by the dedication of our team members. Establishing a strong presence at the community level, participating in their initiatives, and striving to empower them have become the backbone of our organization. These efforts play a crucial role in grounding our mission at the grassroots level.
Thank you for your continuous support and interest in Chetna Vikas.

Warm regards,
Rani Kumari
