Unveiling Chetna Vikas

Our Journey of Empowerment

Chetna Vikas is an organization founded in the year 1985 for the consciousness, empowerment and overall development of the disadvantaged section of the society.

Chetna Vikas, established in 1985, is dedicated to fostering awareness, empowerment, and comprehensive development among marginalized communities. Guided by Gandhian principles, the organization upholds peace, justice, and equity as its fundamental tenets. Originating from a group of youthful social activists deeply involved in Loknayak Jaiprakash's Sampoorna Kranti Movement, Chetna Vikas is rooted in the ethos of SWARAJ (self-governance) and ANTYODAYA (upliftment of the last person). The organization's development endeavors primarily cater to the tribal and economically disadvantaged sectors of society, encompassing farmers, women, and children who have been denied their rights to development. Employing a rights-based, people-centered approach, Chetna Vikas engages in grassroots activism and participatory methodologies. Its objectives include addressing socio-economic disparities, fostering holistic well-being, nurturing self-reliance, promoting local self-governance, ensuring sustainable natural resource management, and advocating for the rights of the people.

Our Mission

Empower the poor, disabled and disenfranchised in rural regions of Jharkhand State to achieve the Gandhian principle of ‘Sarvodaya’ (universal upliftment). It employs right based, people centred, grass root and participatory methods to eliminate socio economic inequality, promote health, nutrition and well-being. Facilitate self- reliance, enable local self-governance, ensure national resources management and promote people’s Advocacy.
