District-Level Consultation Workshop on Community-led Child Protection

Chetna Vikas recently organized a district-level consultation workshop under the Community-led Child Protection Process at Ramraj Ashram. The primary objective of the workshop was to engage stakeholders from various sectors—including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, media representatives, elected officials and emerging community leaders—in a detailed discussion about the collective efforts required to strengthen the child protection system. The workshop focused on addressing the challenges and opportunities in enhancing child protection mechanisms.

Adolescent girls from various rural areas participated actively, emphasizing the importance of education in the development of children and adolescents. They also discussed the significance of creating a child-friendly environment in schools and communities, and the role of parents and the community in mitigating challenges at the grassroots level.

Naseer Jamal, the state coordinator from ICRW, highlighted the state and district-level situation regarding gender, violence, education, and child protection. The workshop delved into critical issues, including community-based child protection practices under the Mission Vatsalya, shared learnings, challenges, and the role of media in child protection policies.

The event was graced by the presence of key figures, including Runu Mishra from the District Social Welfare Department, Ashutosh and Sushma from the District Child Protection Unit, Kaushal Kumar and Devendra Pandey from the District Child Welfare Committee, Bindu Mandal, Mukesh Das, and Mariyam Tuddu from the Panchayati Raj Institutions, Abha Mandal from educational institutions, and representatives from various NGOs, including Sushant Pathak, Sheetanshu Ji, Pashupati Kumar, Madhu Kumari, Kaleshwar Mandal, Pranu Singh, and Rajesh Mishra. Anurag Ji from the Food Corporation and journalists from all media houses in Deoghar district also participated.

At the conclusion of the workshop, all the adolescent girls were awarded certificates to recognize their contributions, encouraging them further. The event's success was made possible by the significant support of the entire Chetna Vikas family.
