Tanya Computer Centre (TCC)

Empowering Visually Impaired Youth Through Digital Literacy

The Tanya Computer Centre (TCC), supported by the Madison Resource Foundation was established on July 1, 2022, in the Dumka District. This initiative is a beacon of hope for visually impaired individuals over the age of 15 from underprivileged and disadvantaged communities, offering them the opportunity to gain valuable skills and build a brighter future.

Our Mission

At TCC, we believe that digital literacy is a powerful tool for empowerment. The centre offers a free, certified computer training course specifically designed for visually impaired individuals, equipping them with the skills necessary to navigate the digital world independently. Our comprehensive program not only focuses on computer skills but also on personal development, aiming to enhance self-confidence, communication abilities, and overall well-being.

Holistic Skill Development

The curriculum at TCC is designed to provide a well-rounded education that goes beyond technical skills. Our program includes:

• Comprehensive Skill Development: In addition to computer literacy, participants receive training in spoken English, personality development, health and hygiene, mobility, and daily living skills. These courses are designed to foster independence and improve the quality of life for our students.

• Empowerment through Digital Literacy: Participants gain proficiency in using computers and assistive technologies, enabling them to engage with the digital world confidently and independently.

• Safe and Inclusive Learning Environment: Understanding the unique challenges faced by visually impaired individuals, TCC ensures a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students can thrive and focus on their learning journey.

• Accreditation and Sustainable Impact: Our long-term goal is to provide meaningful and decent employment opportunities to trained individuals, helping them achieve sustainable livelihoods and contributing positively to their communities.

Impact and Community Engagement

The impact of TCC is already being felt across the Dumka District. A group of visually impaired children, carefully selected based on their needs, have completed the program and are now equipped with the skills to pursue their dreams. The centre has quickly gained recognition in the local community, earning appreciation from parents, stakeholders, and the public.

Key achievements of the Tanya Computer Centre include:

• Targeted Selection: Identifying visually impaired candidates based on their needs and family backgrounds, ensuring that the most deserving individuals benefit from the program.

• Comprehensive Curriculum: Offering a detailed syllabus covering keyboard orientation, software usage, file management, and internet skills.

• Holistic Development: Integrating personality development activities, including yoga, career counselling, spoken English, and other life skills, to prepare students for the challenges ahead.

• Continuous Improvement: Regular feedback from students, parents, and instructors is gathered to refine and enhance the program, ensuring its effectiveness and relevance.

Long-Term Vision

The Tanya Computer Centre is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of visually impaired youth. By empowering them with digital literacy and life skills, we are paving the way for their inclusion in society and the workforce. Our ultimate vision is to see these individuals lead independent, dignified lives, contributing meaningfully to their communities.
