Jharkhand Social Inclusion Programme (JSIP)

In order to enhance the quality of life through the quality & quantity of services and to promote individual autonomy, respect and dignity in the life of persons with disabilities on par with the national & international development such as UNCRPD, Chetna Vikas has been implementing Jharkhand Social Inclusion programme (Jharkhand) with the support of Sightsavers in Seven block of Dumka District (Jarmundi, Jama, Dumka, Masaliya , Saraiyahat, Shikaripara and Kathikund). Chetna Vikas has taken up initiative for the empowerment of persons with disabilities and thereby improving their quality of life. It has been utilizing the philosophy of psychosocial, physical, mental, educational, economic, cultural and spiritual development through the concept of community based rehabilitation and ensuring their social acceptance, dignity and sense of belongingness. Under the evolved project, it has been implementing the various services such as Skill Development camps, Vocational training through govt and others, capacity building program for the DPO (Disabled People’s Organization), formation of village level SHGs of the person with disabilities, community meetings, district level and State level consultation workshops, Orientation and mobility training to the blind/low-vision, economic rehabilitation, etc.

The objective of the project is to develop and demonstrate initiatives that improve the capacities and opportunities for the disabled people to participate in community life. Ensuring the accessibility of the social security schemes of the government, strengthening through income generation program, empowerment of Disabled People’s Organization and other favorable policies will help in realization of their rights and entitlements and a barrier free environment for PWDs.

Achievements during the year:


• The of Jharkhand has recognised the effectiveness of Jharkhand Social Inclusion Programme strategies as designed and singed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Sightsavers and Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), Govt. of Jharkhand in year 2016

• In Rights & Entitlements of govt. flagship programme 250 Male and 111 female PWDs have been assessed for the disability status on which 181 male and 101 female got their disability certificate

• Under Swami Viveka Nand Pension Scheme for PWDs 179 male and 107 female received their pension

• 205 male and 127 female have been opened their bank account through our programme.

• 202 male and 86 female have been trained on their disability rights, laws, legislation etc.

• 48 SHGs formed of PWDs exclusively under the NRLM fold of JSLPS

• For ensuring the livelihood of PWDs 102 male and 48 female have been trained on Vocational skills on different trades

• During the year total 191 New PWDs joined District Level Disabled people organisation

• 88 male and 39 visually impaired PWDs have trained on orientation and mobility

• For creating barrier free environment for PWDs 46 community level meeting have conducted
