Chetna Vikas is deeply committed to uplifting deprived communities, with a special focus on empowering women through financial independence. Under the Rebuild India Fund, we are actively supporting 25 villages in the Deoghar block of Deoghar district. Our mission is to transform the lives of women and adolescents by equipping them with the skills, resources and opportunities they need to become successful entrepreneurs.

Creating Community Change Makers

Our focus is on establishing Community Change Makers Groups—collectives of motivated individuals, particularly women and adolescents, who show a strong interest in entrepreneurship. These groups are at the heart of our initiative, as they represent the potential for economic growth and self-reliance within their communities.

Training and Support for Sustainable Businesses

Chetna Vikas has been engaging with these communities through continuous meetings, mobilization, and counselling sessions. These efforts have led to the successful formation of several groups across the targeted villages. Among them, the Sugandha Ajeevika Sakhi Mandal—a group of 17 dedicated women from Basmandih village in Shankari Panchayat—stands out.

In June 2024, during a focused group discussion, the women of this group expressed their desire to start a small business producing and selling incense sticks (Agarbatti). Despite initial challenges with securing a production site, the group’s determination led to a successful relocation, demonstrating their resilience and commitment.

Under the expert guidance of a skilled trainer, these women received hands-on training in incense stick production. Each member contributed a small membership fee, which serves as the group’s initial capital. Chetna Vikas provided the necessary materials and equipment, laying the foundation for their business venture.

Market Linkage and Ongoing Support

Chetna Vikas is not just helping these women start their businesses—we are committed to ensuring their long-term success. We are continuing the support to the Sugandha Ajivika Sakhi Mandal by facilitating market linkages, connecting them with buyers, and providing ongoing mentorship. This comprehensive support system is designed to empower these women, enabling them to achieve financial independence and contribute to the economic prosperity of their communities.
